Anyone who knows me will confirm that I’m not the most outgoing of people. I tend to work in the background and try and help others. I think it’s that IT support and developer ethic of getting the job done rather than taking the credit or whatever.

Still, over the past couple of years that’s had to change with the work that we’ve been doing at Awesome Tech Training. I had run lectures and training before, but especially since the COVID outbreak we’ve been running online webinars and training, which have been equally terrifying and really interesting.

We ran a couple last Friday which I presented – for “Why Choose WordPress” and the one that I was really interested introducing people to the idea of speed and performance improvement in WordPress.

Had I got back to blogging here earlier, I would have posted a link. Instead I’ll just say that it was the most interesting set of webinars so far, for me. Hopefully we’ll run them again soon if anyone is interested.

I had to write a few words for Awesome Tech Training and I realised that the first record of my WordPress journey was in this blog back in 2005. Back then I was a local councillor at West Lancs District Council and so I was writing about what was happening in the Moorside ward in Skelmersdale.

That’s long past but it seems a shame to leave this lying unattended.

These days I’m spending more time showing people how to use WordPress and writing code. So some things are different, some things stay the same. But now seems as good a time as any to start updating here again.

I’ve been bad and haven’t updated this blog in about five years.

Quite a bit has happened.

So it seems like a good time to pick up the site, dust it down and start posting stuff again.

Also, I’ve moved it away from the transitory domain, kiemiestas.com, and am back at stevehanlon.co.uk. Anything work related can be found over at stevehanlon.com, but to be honest, it just has a holding page at the moment. This isn’t the only site that has been neglected over the past few years.
