Treadmilling

Today’s run was due to be on the treadmill. It was all going fine for the first 13 minutes until the belt started to fold in the middle.

I loosened everything, straightened it out and started again but within a few minutes it had rucked up again. Abandoning all hope of finishing the run I opened the back door and ran down the main road for a few minutes and ran back again. I probably looked a right state, in my t-shirt and shorts and dripping with sweat, but I got the run completed.

The belt looks damaged now, so I’ll have to see if I can get a replacement.

Earlier, I went out for a walk with Joel. We discussed some of the practicalities around sharing the xbox. It’s proving to be more difficult than we originally thought. L&J seem to do well when they’re playing something with a clear goal (Plants vs Zombies, for example seems to be fine) but Minecraft was causing ructions. If they can do almost anything, then they start to argue over what to do. We’ve settled on them agreeing a plan of action before playing, and surprisingly, this seems to be working well.

Other than that it’s been the usual pottering about, preparing dinner and shepherding the children. The tasty leg of lamb that was delivered this morning was frozen, so my plans for the week’s dinners had to be rejigged. The three hours cook-a-thon will have to be done tomorrow instead. Tonight we had potato, celeriac and crab bake, which was tasty, but not as tasty as I’d hoped. The freezer half might not get eaten anytime soon.

Day 46: 3.8km run and 3.5km walk.
